Partnerships & Solutions
Forward Deployed Engineer / Solutions Engineer
About IrisGo
IrisGo is an early-stage AI operating system company building the layer that lets agents do real work on your computer. Our AI OS turns everyday devices into agentic machines, with a Watch & Learn workflow-capture feature that turns recorded human workflows into agent-executable skills. We ship as a desktop application and partner with leading hardware OEMs to bring our AI OS to millions of devices.
We're moving fast and backed by AI Fund (Andrew Ng). You'll be one of our founding customer-facing engineers, shaping how IrisGo gets deployed in the field.
The Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at IrisGo, you'll embed directly with our partners, hardware OEMs and technology partners alike, to design, build, and ship production modules on top of the IrisGo platform. You'll sit at the intersection of partner needs and our core product, translating "can it do X for our devices or our users?" into working integrations, custom skills, and deployments that stick.
This is a hands-on, high-agency role. You'll build real artifacts (skills, MCP integrations, partner-specific modules), run technical discovery with partner engineering teams, and feed what you learn back into our roadmap. Because IrisGo ships on the desktop and runs on partner hardware, often in security-sensitive environments, you'll work close to the metal, reasoning about device constraints, local vs. cloud inference, authentication and security technologies, and OEM release and certification cycles.
You should be comfortable with ambiguity, able to own an integration end-to-end, and excited to help define what the solutions/FDE function looks like as we scale.
What You'll Do
- Embed with hardware OEMs and technology partners to scope, design, and build production modules on top of the IrisGo platform.
- Build technical artifacts that ship in production: agent skills, MCP servers and connectors, Watch & Learn workflows, and partner-specific integrations.
- Run technical discovery with partner engineering and product teams, turning vague requirements into a scoped POC with clear success criteria.
- Provide white-glove deployment and integration support, debugging issues across the desktop app, the agent runtime, and partner environments.
- Integrate with partner systems where it matters, including authentication and security technologies, so IrisGo deployments meet partner and regulatory requirements.
- Reason about deployment constraints unique to OEM hardware: device specs (RAM, NPU/GPU), local vs. cloud inference tradeoffs, packaging, signing, and update strategy across a fleet.
- Identify repeatable deployment patterns and codify them, feeding insights and feature requests back to Product and Engineering.
- Protect the integrity of the core platform: build partner customizations as composable modules/configs rather than one-off forks.
- Build durable relationships with partner teams and proactively surface new opportunities across the lifecycle of an engagement.
- Travel to partner sites as needed (expect ~25–50%) to build in person.
You May Be a Good Fit If You Have
- 4+ years in a technical, customer- or partner-facing role: Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Sales/Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant, or a Software Engineer with consulting or partner-integration experience. Former technical founders encouraged to apply.
- Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript and a track record of shipping production software end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic systems: prompt engineering, agent/tool-use workflows, and an understanding of why production reliability and evaluation are the hard part (not the demo).
- Familiarity with integration protocols and patterns (e.g., MCP, REST/SDK integrations) and the judgment to favor protocol-first, reusable design over bespoke glue.
- The instinct to do discovery before solutioning: you ask clarifying questions and scope POCs tightly rather than building everything.
- High agency and comfort operating under ambiguity in an early-stage environment with a shifting roadmap.
- Strong communication skills: you can run discovery with a partner's engineers and explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders, with low ego and a collaborative style.
Nice to Have
- Experience building on or shipping desktop applications (Electron or similar): packaging, OS permissions, code signing, auto-update, resource footprint.
- Experience working with OEM or hardware partners, or shipping software embedded in someone else's stack and release/certification process.
- Experience integrating authentication or security technologies, useful for partners in regulated and security-sensitive environments.
- Experience with local/on-device inference, model quantization, or running models under hardware constraints (NPU, limited RAM), which is directly relevant to AI PCs.
- Experience building or scaling a solutions/FDE function, or mentoring junior engineers.
- A background in a relevant enterprise vertical, or prior experience at a hardware or platform company.
Why Join
- Founding-team impact: you'll help define IrisGo's forward-deployed motion from the ground up.
- Work at the frontier of AI operating systems, on devices, with marquee OEM partners.
- High autonomy, direct access to the founders, and a real say in the product roadmap.
- Backed by AI Fund (Andrew Ng) with room to grow as the company scales.
IrisGo is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification listed.
